Caribbean Blue

Caribbean Blue

I chose pink paper because the beginning of this song seemed pink to me. It is very dreamlike, hence the cloudish look of the picture. You’ll notice it is really a thought bubble being thought by something resembling a paintbrush and a book. This was mostly taken from the line “If every man says all he can, if every man is true, do I believe the sky above is Caribbean blue. . . .” There’s a blue sky above in the dream-bubble, with a bird flying in it. The paintbrush and book are kind of like what “every man” is trying to say. It’s such a neat idea to think about what would happen if we all could really say everything we want to! There’s also a brown line connecting what the paintbrush writes to the little gold circle up there, drawn because of the line “If all you told was turned to gold, if all you dreamed were new.” There is a figure-eight in there (I’m big on those), to symbolize the wish to live forever, long enough to say everything we wish to. There are formless things floating in the dream above, all things that want to be said but are not said in the real world. Still, some of it is achieved, some of the blueness comes into the sky . . . symbolized by the blue lines around the “real” paintbrush and book. This looks pretty abstract but it’s actually pretty full of symbolism, as you can see.

Caribbean Blue–lyrics

. . . Afer Ventus . . .
. . . So the world goes round and round
With all you ever knew
They say the sky high above
Is Caribbean blue . . .
. . . If every man says all he can,
If every man is true,
Do I believe the sky above
Is Caribbean blue . . .
. . . Boreas . . .
. . . Zephryus . . .
. . . If all you told was turned to gold,
if all you dreamed were new,
Imagine sky high above
In Caribbean blue . . .
. . . Eurus . . .
Afer Ventus . . .
. . . Boreas
Zephryus . . .
. . . Africus . . .
