December 2002: Pen and Colored Pencils.

Caption: Ivy learns to hold a baby.

Explanation: Nina and her mother, Francis, look on as Ivy meets baby Erik for the first time. Ivy has a hard time believing that this tiny lumpy thing will one day be a person.

IVY TRIVIA: When her brother is born, Nina is hoping that he might grow up to share her unusual ability. This is not in the cards, but he will grow up with a strange idea of what’s normal, thanks to involvement in Ivy’s group, and will one day begin to wonder why it is that he cannot fly like Ivy (who he thinks of as his aunt).
